Beltane Tarot Spread and Ritual Ideas

Dancing around a bonfire naked is a classic Beltane move!

Beltane Blessings gorgeous souls!

On the opposite side of the wheel to Samhain is Beltane. Celebrated at the point where spring begins to move into summer, Beltane is a fiery, passionate, sexy festival that honours the warmth and growth of the earth.

Beltane is known as the “Great Rite” - the festival in which the God and the Goddess come together in sexual union and this is a fantastic time to look at how the masculine and feminine energies are working within you and in your life.

Celebrated with maypole and Morris dancing in England, with bonfires and naked dancing in Scotland (I will never forget my very first Beltane festival on Calton Hill in Edinburgh!), Beltane is also an auspicious time for witches and magical folk to become handfasted.

While Samhain is a time of deep honouring for the dead, Beltane is a festival of life, love and fertility. A powerful time for manifestation, but do think carefully about what you want to call in at this time as the energy is potent!

Beltane is a wonderful time for connecting with the earth, the land and the people you love.

A time of creativity in all forms, whether you are wanting to create new life, bring a new soul into your family, or work on creative projects, this is the perfect time to set some intentions, breathe into your own magic and remember you have the power to plant, grow and create, just like the earth does.

During Beltane the veil is also thin, and so it’s always wise to remember to practice energy protection at both these points in the wheel (and always!) as spirit gets a little busy at these times!

Also known as May Day, Beltane is traditionally celebrated on the 1st of May in the northern hemisphere and the 1st of November in the southern hemisphere.

The Beltane bonfires

Looking for some Beltane rituals?

As always, you can celebrate Beltane or any of the sabbats however you like. But here are some ideas that may be useful in helping you develop your own rituals.

Fire rituals

If you can’t get to a bonfire celebration near by, create your own fire rituals. Light a fire pit or some candles on your altar. Burn away the old as you give thanks for the new.

Get wild

Do something to let your inner wild child out. Dance naked, sleep under the stars, roll around in meadows, walk barefoot through mud, turn your phone off for a day, ignore all your calls and return to your roots. Connect with the wildness of nature and be as wild and free as the wildflowers.

Gather

Gather with friends, family and loved ones at a Beltane festival, for a picnic in the park, a backyard BBQ, a night out dancing or even just a pizza and a good summer movie. Enjoy the company of the people you really care about and let them know how much they mean to you. Share your gratitudes and hopes for the future.

Unite

Just as the God and Goddess are reconnecting at Beltane, do something to honour, balance and merge the God and Goddesses within you.

Journal on how you balanced you feel within yourself. Look for ways that you can bring the masculine (the push energy) and the feminine (the pull) into balance. How can you both show up in the physical world and give yourself time and space to work on your inner world?

Flower crowns

Flower crowns are the ultimate accessory for Beltane. Make or buy a flower crown and wear it with confidence like the incredible Faery queen you are.

As part of your ritual you may like to work with this tarot or oracle spread!

Pour yourself a cold drink and grab your deck. You can use any cards you have - tarot, oracle, angel, Uno, it’s all good. You may like to take some time to journal on what comes up for extra insight.

1. How to celebrate love and life

2. What to conceive

3. How to unite all parts of yourself

4. How to unite with the divine

New Moon in Scorpio Solar Eclipse Tarot Spread

The New Moon in Scorpio this month kicks off eclipse season with a solar eclipse thrown in to the mix!

The new moon is usually an incredible time for manifestation, but eclipses are… not.

Eclipse energy can be chaotic and with the intensity of the Scorpio energy this is a time to look within rather than at what the outside world can provide for you.

This is the perfect time to ground and find your centre. What keeps you upright when the cosmic winds are blowing? Do some of this, and if you can’t find the energy or drive to do it, just focus on looking after yourself and getting through it.

Self-care is everything during this new moon and solar eclipse. Do things that nourish and nurture you. Fill your cup so you have plenty left over if some splashes over the sides.

Scorpio loves all things witchy and occult, but rather than casting spells, this is a great time to read your own tarot or oracle cards or even get together with a friend or two and support each other with some empowering readings.

If you find the energy a little full on, work on both grounding yourself and connecting to the highest guidance available. This will create a pillar of light between your roots and antahkarana bridge to source, keeping you aligned during this energetically big time.

LOOKING FOR SOME RITUALS IDEAS FOR THIS NEW MOON?

  • Tarot or oracle readings

  • Ritual baths

  • Burn some self-care candles

  • Journal

  • Read something from your book stack

  • Curl up into a ball and watch a witchy movie

Goddesses Among Us Oracle

The Goddesses are Among Us!

Click here for the links to the main Amazon pages or please do a search for Goddesses Among Us Oracle wherever you buy good books and decks.

My new oracle deck Goddesses Among Us is out now! The sibling deck to the Angels Among Us Oracle which came out last year, this deck is filled with modern goddesses, body positivity and diversity.

Together with artist extraordinaire Ellie Grant and Rockpool Publishing, we created a deck that would connect you to the Goddesses in the here and now.

Tired of Goddess artwork saturating the new age community that looked nothing like me, my friends or the incredible humans I found inspiring, I went on a mission to create a deck of Goddesses for the new new age.

While staying culturally sensitive (Maat is African, Aphrodite is Greek, Zhinu is Chinese) we kept but reinterpreted the symbols these Goddesses are known for (Saint Joan of Arc wears a Fleur de lis tee and Ishtar wears her wings as earrings). We have also included disability representation, something that is missing so much in the spiritual community.

The intention behind this deck is twofold - first is that you will be able to connect with the love, light and power of the Goddess in a more down to earth way as she becomes a sister, mother, aunt or wise woman from down the road.

It is also my intention that you see yourself in this deck, that you may be reminded of your own divinity, your own inner Goddess and that she may rise within you to help you manifest your divine destiny, highest purpose and live the most incredible life.

Enjoy the ramble and reading below to hear me share more of the inspo behind this incredible deck!

Full Moon in Aries Tarot Spread

The Full Moon in Aries is all about letting go of anything that’s stopping you from standing in your strength and power.

As the New Moon in Aries symbolises a new zodiac year and a fantastic opportunity to manifest, when the Full Moon arrives here it’s time to check-in with the seeds that were sown six months ago.

Ideally, we should be doing this every full moon and taking a visit back to the flipside and what we were doing, what we were manifesting, what was going on in our lives six months ago.

So take a moment to think, journal or meditate upon where you were then. What’s changed? What have you learned? What blessings have come into your life? What have you created? What challenges have you made it through?

Look at how far you’ve come and be proud of yourself for making it to this point.

The Full Moon in Aries is a wonderful time to count your blessings and really dive deep into the energy of gratitude to help propel you through the next six months with love, grace and ease.

And as always, the Full Moon is always a good time to shed what is no longer needed. As Aries is such a strong, brave and self-assertive sign, it’s a great time to let go of anything that is stopping you from standing in your power. Old beliefs and stories and even old outfits that don’t make you feel like your best self have to go!

New Moon in Libra Tarot Spread

Libra is the sign of balance, harmony and alignment and when it hits in the new moon it gives an opportunity to find an even higher path.

Wherever you’ve been out of balance, whatever has been weighing too heavy on one side of your scales, it’s time to release let go and make things work for you again.

The new moon in Libra is a great time to think about all the ways in which balance appear and work in your life. Take a look at your work/life balance, the ways in which you’re giving or taking too much from others or yourself and the places where things just feel out of whack.

This new moon also gives us a chance to look at how we balance the masculine and feminine, or push and pull within us in our lives.

It’s not enough just to sit at your altar and cast spells and visualise your dreams into being, we also have to get out into the world and make it happen.

The new moon in Libra can help you to find a rhythm and a flow between inner energy work and the external creation of what you want to manifest into being.

A shadow side of Libra can be that we strive too hard for perfection. But the goal is not to always have your scales perfectly balanced, it’s to keep an eye on them, to be more conscious and aware so that when one side starts to tip you can catch yourself before you fall.

The new moon is always a good time for manifestation, and this moon is perfect for manifesting alignment, harmony and peace within you and in your life.

LOOKING FOR SOME RITUALS IDEAS FOR THIS NEW MOON?

  • Energy alignment practices

  • Working with and balancing the chakras

  • Balancing the masculine (external) and feminine (internal) aspects of yourself and your life

  • Balancing the hemispheres of the brain with meditation and kundalini yoga

  • Tree pose! (On both sides!)

  • Working with the higher heart chakra

  • Spells for harmony at home or work

  • Spells for discovering and activating your purpose

  • Take a day or two off social media so you can come back to yourself

  • Go on a retreat or create your own personal retreat day

The best time to use this spread is within three days after the new moon in Libra, but you can really use it anytime you want to connect with the Libra energy

Also, check out the Libra Season Tarot Spread and the Full Moon in Libra Tarot Spread for more Libra magick!

2.How to come back into alignment

3.magick to make

Mabon Tarot Spread and Ritual Ideas

Autumn ready.

Mabon blessings gorgeous souls!

Occurring on the autumn equinox, or fall equinox for my American friends, Mabon and marks the late harvest celebration and preparation for the cooler days ahead.

The earth begins to slow down, dropping leaves, bringing cooler days and longer nights, reminding us it’s okay that we also slow down, pause and prepare for the season ahead.

An extra magickal time for the witches among us, this is a time to get your pumpkins ready and start preparing for the witchy season!

Traditionally a harvest festival, Mabon is about more than Pumpkin Spice Lattes (click for my PSL Spread!). It’s a time to prepare, stock up, preserve the fruits of your harvest.

But most importantly, it’s a festival of gratitude.

Not only is it a great time to be grateful for all you’ve received over the last few months, but also to be grateful to yourself for showing up and creating the life you now get to live. And if you’re not where you want to be, it’s still a good time to be thankful for the good you do have in your life while you keep working towards creating even more.

The exact date and time of the equinox always changes, but Mabon is usually celebrated between the 21st to the 22rd of September in the northern hemisphere and the 21st to 22nd of March in the southern hemisphere.

Yep!

Looking for some Mabon rituals?

As always, you can celebrate Mabon or any of the sabbats however you like. But here are some ideas that may be useful in helping you develop your own rituals.

Gratitude

While it’s wonderful to write in your gratitude journal, it’s even more magickal to tell others how much you love and appreciate them. Take some time over Mabon to tell the people you love just how much they mean to you. Not only will it make them feel wonderful, it will make you feel all warm and fuzzy too.

Giving and receiving

During your harvest you may find you have something to spare. It’s a great time to give away anything you no longer need to someone who may find it useful. Whether it’s giving clothes and blankets to homeless shelters, donating books or just gifting on a tarot deck that no longer resonates with you, giving something away can make room for more space, love and abundance in your own life. When others gift you something at this time, gratefully receive.

Cooking

I’m not really much of a cook so I don’t have a lot of advice here, except to say that traditionally this is a great time to make some jam or chutney, pickle some cucumbers (is that even how you make pickles?!) or onions. Bake some delicious vegan cookies, or even get the slow cooker out and start prepping some yumo recipes for the cooler days ahead.

Take stock

All of the sabbats are wonderful opportunities to take stock of where you are, where you’ve been and where you’re going, but Mabon is extra since it’s the late harvest. If you don’t count your blessings you may not have enough to see you through winter! J/K, of course you will have more than enough love, luck, blessings and magick, but it’s nice to know just how much! Take some time to write down everything you’re grateful for in this moment, everything you’ve achieved, experienced and are grateful for from the last three months and then start thinking about where you want to go next. There’s no hurry to get there, but no harm in knowing the direction you want to go in.

As part of your ritual you may like to work with this tarot or oracle spread!

Pour yourself a cup of chai and grab your deck. You can use any cards you have - tarot, oracle, angel, Uno, it’s all good. You may like to take some time to journal on what comes up for extra insight.

1. What has grown

2. What to keep

3. What to give

4. What to receive

Ostara Tarot Spread and Ritual Ideas

Spring has sprung!

Ostara blessings gorgeous souls!

Ostara is the pagan fertility festival that marks the spring equinox.

The early Christians merged the story of Jesus’ resurrection and new life with this pagan celebration of the new life of spring to create Easter. Symbols of chocolate bunnies and crucifixions have made this time of year (in the northern hemisphere at least!) quite the mash-up.

But whatever and however you choose to celebrate, it really is a time of joy, light and promises of new growth and fresh starts.

Ostara is all about welcoming the spring and the reawakening of the earth. As the flowers begin to bloom and the sun rises higher again we feel that spark of light within us returning as well. Longer days are on their way, summer is just around the corner and we have so much to look forward to!

A festival of fertility and creativity, Ostara is the perfect time to sow some seeds, plant some intentions and prepare to nurture them into growth.

Remember, dreams don’t work unless you do. Plant your seeds and dreams but don’t forget to water them!

In the northern hemisphere Ostara is celebrated between March 19th to 23rd and in the southern hemisphere it is observed between the 20th and 23rd of September.

Spring vibezzz.

Looking for some Ostara rituals?

As always, you can celebrate Ostara or any of the sabbats however you like. But here are some ideas that may be useful in helping you develop your own rituals.

Planting intentions

This is the perfect way to work with the energy of Ostara and the spring equinox. Just like we plant seeds so they can grow, planting our dreams is an important part of the manifestation process. Write down your dreams and intentions on pieces of paper and plant them in the earth. Make a plan for how you will support their growth. Remember and nurture them and see what grows.

Another way to plant intentions is to take some seeds and whisper into them what you would like to see grow in your life. Plant the seeds into the ground or a pot and nurture them!

Self-love and self-nurture

As you start to notice the beauty of nature waking up all around you, notice your own beauty also! How is your body changing and becoming more beautiful every day? Take some selfies and share them with the world! Take ritual baths with flowers and essential oils, take time for your own self-care, skin care rituals, get your hair done, early nights, whatever floats your lotus.

Altars & Decorating your home

With all the beautiful flowers, wildflowers, wattle and other magickal gifts from nature at this time of year there is so much you can use to decorate your altar and home with. Fill your home with flowers and create an Ostara altar with flowers, plants, seeds, images of hares, Jesus, whatever takes your fancy!

*A note on Eggs

It’s common at this time of year to celebrate Ostara or Easter by decorating eggs and placing them on your altar or around your home. Unfortunately, most eggs these days come from factory farms and there is nothing magickal about the egg industry. Please consider working with images of eggs, ceramic eggs or other types of eggs that are cruelty-free. Causing someone else’s suffering for your magick is never worth it imho.

If you have a spell or ritual you usually do with an egg, try performing it with a seed instead. A seed is simply an egg that grows through the earth instead of through a living being, so why not go straight to the source?

As part of your ritual you may like to work with this tarot or oracle spread!

Pour yourself a cup of chamomile tea and grab your deck. You can use any cards you have - tarot, oracle, angel, Uno, it’s all good. You may like to take some time to journal on what comes up for extra insight.

1. Seeds and dreams to plant

2. What they need to grow

3. How to nurture them and yourself

4. How to prepare for their arrival

Full Moon in Pisces Tarot Spread

A full moon in Pisces is the most mega moon for all things psychic, deep and dreamy.

This may not be the easiest moon for some, especially if you’re not familiar with visiting the very deepest depths of your soul, but it is much needed. The magic you can uncover from diving deep can be so powerful and it’s always worth the journey.

If you are wanting to expand your intuitive abilities, wake up your psychic powers or take that spiritual development course you signed up for but haven’t looked at yet, this is the the moon to do it!

The full moon in Pisces is also a time to rest and receive rather than push and try to make something happen.

In fact, we could probably all use a couple days in bed or on the couch over this moon! If that’s not available to you, at least try to honour your downtime. Avoid looking at your phone and absorbing other people’s stuff, and just do things that can help you “zone out” and relax not only your physical body, but also your mind.

This is the moon to catch up on 90s rom coms, to drink huge mugs of tea and fall asleep reading books about astral projection.

It’s also a very occult-y and magickal time! So if you’ve been planning a big spell or ritual for a while, this is a great time to do it.

In its shadow, Pisces can bring a little too much navel gazing, a touch of the blues and tiredness. Listen to your own body and your intuition and always do what feels right for you. Take what resonates here and leave the rest.

Looking for some rituals ideas for this full moon?

  • Spiritual development or psychic practice

  • Deep dive journaling

  • Astral travel

  • Dream work

  • Big mama tarot readings

  • Working with the mermaids

  • Bath rituals

  • Shadow work

  • Spells for protection

Xanadu Tarot Spread

Xanadu!

Xanadu is one of the greatest movies of all time.

It came out the year I was born and I honestly can’t imagine a world in which Xanadu didn’t exist.

This is the movie that taught me to believe in magic, to believe in myself and to believe that I could make my own dreams come true.

Xanadu is a story about following your dreams. On roller skates. With Greek muses by your side and an ElO soundtrack. What could be better than that?

I’ve seen Xanadu countless times. As a child I listened to the vinyl on repeat - repeat as in turning the record over continuously. I choreographed dances to all the songs in my living room, and on Saturdays I got my dad to move the car out of the garage so I could practice my skating while I listened to my Xanadu cassette tape that was recorded off the vinyl. There really is nothing like the sound of a tape played out of an 80s tape player that was recorded off a scratchy record. Ah, those were the days!

I saw Xanadu on the big screen for the first time 9 years ago at the Prince Charles Cinema in London. It was incredible.

Olivia Newton John passed away just a few weeks ago and of course, I watched it again. And I cried. I cried at the start when all the muses take off to go and do their lightwork on the planet and help the souls who need them. I cried at the end when all the muses went back to Mount Helicon. I cried because it’s such an incredible creative piece of genius, and Olivia Newton John was such an incredible Lightworker who was really was a muse as an inspiration to so many of us in so many ways.

Olivia Newton John Forever

And sure, it’s a movie that some people didn’t like.

Honestly, if you don’t like Xanadu, I think maybe you just don’t get xanadu.

Or maybe you’re just from a different soul group. *Shrug!

I really do believe that part of the reason we resonate so deeply with certain movies or bands or musicians or authors or other creative work is because the creators are a part of our soul group, sent here to help inspire those of us who are on that frequency to do what we came here to do.

Watching Xanadu is like opening a portal into magic and dreams and believing in miracles.

It’s pure magic and pure heart. I’ve never been able to find out much info about the writers Richard Christian Danus and Marc Reid Rubel. They don’t even have Wikipedia pages! But whoever they are, I have no doubt that they were channelling something magical AF when they came up with Xanadu.

One of the things I love most about this movie is that they just went for it. They didn’t hold back. They didn’t try to make this movie normal, or cool, or like every other movie that was out and popular. They did something different and just fully committed to the magic and made it as fun, quirky and wonderful as they wanted it to be.

And while the critics will say whatever they want about this movie and every other piece of art in the world. I just say WOW! Imagine creating something as incredible as Xanadu. Imagine knowing you inspired millions of people to take up roller skating and to go and make their own dreams come true.

And honestly, the lightcodes that will download into your heart and mind when you watch Xanadu will get you vibing so high, get you on your highest path and stay with you forever.

And now for a card reading spread!

As always, you can use this spread any cards you have - tarot, oracle, angel, Uno, it’s all good. You may also like to take some time to journal on what comes up for extra insight.

1. Your big dream

3. How to make it happen

New Moon in Virgo Tarot Spread

Virgo is such an honest, down to the earth, smell the roses and put them on your altar sign, and when the new moon moves in here it’s a great time for healing, manifestation and moving on.

When we’re hanging out in Virgo we have an opportunity to pay attention to the details, and if you really want to manifest your dreams, you can’t ignore the nudges, niggles and the dust accumulating in your sacred spaces or in your own energy field.

The little things may not seem important most of the time, but it’s often when we make the smallest change that we see the biggest impact.

Dusting down your altar can make you feel more connected and clear, tidying your desk can help you work more efficiently and one little mindset shift can change your whole life.

This isn’t about sweating the small stuff, it’s about taking care of the details so the universe can work on the big picture stuff for you!

Ever heard the phrase - look after the pennies and the pounds take care of themselves? This is how to manifest in the sign of Virgo. Look after the small stuff and the rest takes care of itself!

Virgo is also all about getting organised, and if you really want to live the life of your dreams, sometimes that means taking care of the mundane muggle stuff.

It’s not always that fun to fill out forms, make phone calls or look for a better deal, but in Virgo this is all part of the manifestation process.

We all want to live in our dream house, but the reality is that in order get it we have to do more than visualise. This new moon is all about figuring out how to make that down payment!

Work out what you want and what you need to do to make it happen.

Virgo is an earth sign and deeply connected to the material world, so you may want to focus on your material manifestations this new moon.

The shadow side of Virgo is that it can make us a little too prone to perfectionism. Focus on self-love, healing and connection to nature as you navigate the Virgo new moon. You don’t have to be perfect, you only have to be you!

LOOKING FOR SOME RITUALS IDEAS FOR THIS NEW MOON?

  • Manifest your dream house

  • Organise your magickal items, books and decks

  • Clean, clear and cleanse your altar or magickal space and create it anew

  • Energy healing or reiki

  • Ancestral healing

  • Rest

  • Spells and manifestation for work

  • Reconnect with nature

  • Flower magick

  • Self-love spells

The best time to use this spread is within three days after the new moon in Virgo, but you can really use it anytime you want to connect with the Virgo vibes.

Also, check out the Virgo Season Tarot Spread for more Virgo magick!

So go ahead and grab your deck, tarot, oracle, angel, whatever you have, and let’s get organised!
